The mental health and wellbeing of our people is one of our top priorities at rhi, and this week we were excited to host our first virtual Mental Health event. Our employees, contractors and clients were able to hear an inspiring talk focused on resilience with guest speaker, Nadine Champion.

During these unprecedented times, it is important that we are equipped with the right mindset tools and connect with one another. All of us must remember that we are not alone, as we are all in this together.

Stephanie Brebner, rhi’s general manager who hosted the webinar, said “The events that have unfolded during the first half of this year have impacted and challenged all of us. It is powerful to have someone with the experience like Nadine to speak to our community and challenge the audience to think about their future and build resilience.”

Our keynote speaker, Nadine Champion, is an inspiring speaker, champion kickboxer and cancer survivor. She uses the knowledge she has gained through martial arts as a metaphor for life – to transform not only people’s physical health but the way they think and feel about themselves.

Nadine said: “There has never been a more important time to harness your courage and build a more resilient mindset. The most important fight for you to win is the one within your own mind.”

Some of the mindset secrets that Nadine suggested to help everyone emerge from these challenging times undefeated included:

  • 3 Rs of resilience: Refocus your mindset, rally your troops & rise to the occasion
  • Embrace your inner F.I.G.H.T:  Focus, Intensity, Grit, Hunger & Tough
  • Once you change your thinking, you can change your life.  All it takes is 10 seconds of courage.

Teresa Latter, manager resourcing at rhi, said: “Nadine brought us an inspiring story that had us channel our energy into re-building, re-focusing and conquering life's adversities. We need to trust ourselves, try to resist negative self-talk and focus on what is important to us. It was great to share this story virtually with our community”.
